Rural Clinical School of WA (RCSWA)

  • Based in Karratha in Regional Western Australia
  • Become a key part of transforming lives and improving health outcomes in rural communities
  • Part-time (0.2 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis until December 2026.
  • Base salary range: Level C, $139,000 – $159,893 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.
  • Rural and remote allowance applies for those living in the immediate area
  • Clinical loading may be applicable

About the area

The Rural Clinical School of Western Australia (RCSWA) was established in 2002 to help deliver better health outcomes for people living in country WA.

Our vision for the future is to build on our successes and foster an exceptional locally trained, research-driven, collegiate, academic and clinical community, providing equitable healthcare to rural and remote WA.

The RCSWA helps rural communities sustain a locally trained and loyal medical workforce by placing penultimate and final year medical students across a network of 15 sites. Students gain valuable hands-on experience and professional mentoring throughout the 12-month program. 

About the opportunity

  • Deliver world-class innovative medical education and training to medical students and assist in the support of preceptors and host practitioners
  • Commitment to be involved in research and/or evaluation relevant to improving rural health
  • In consultation with local medical practitioners and agencies maintain and contribute to the development of local educational programs that meet the requirements of the RCSWA and take advantage of local opportunities and strengths
  • Develop and coordinate the development of rural training pathways in local area of appointment and contribute to a statewide RCSWA approach

About you

  • Registered, or able to be registered with AHPRA as a Medical Practitioner
  • Committed to working in medical practice in rural WA
  • Available to work in the respective RCSWA site and the ability to network with rural practitioners in the region
  • Experience as a preceptor and/or supervisor of medical students and/or junior doctors or registrars
  • A commitment to the principles and practice of Indigenous health in rural and regional areas
  • Commitment to rural medical education and to improving rural medical workforce
