About the area
The mission of the UWA Medical School is to provide education, services and research that create better health for the benefit of the Western Australian, Australian and international communities. The School delivers a 4-year postgraduate entry MD program to local, national and international students and also has a long history of successful research programs.
As part of the Medical School, the UWA Discipline of Emergency Medicine provides high quality and innovative teaching to medical students. Students are placed in metropolitan Emergency Departments for 5-week clinical attachments as part of their final year. During these attachments, students are actively involved in Emergency Department activities and also have access to online learning, formal face to face workshops and clinical in-training assessments. Students have formal assessments through written and OSCE assessments.
About the opportunity
- Coordinate Emergency Medicine teaching within Year 4 of the UWA MD program, sharing responsibilities with fellow Coordinators.
- Support high-quality clinical placements and supervision, backed by strong academic processes and educational resources.
- Maintain relationships with clinicians and Site Coordinators, and assist with student coordination at your Emergency Department.
About you
- Registered with Ahpra as a Medical Practitioner in Western Australia with Fellowship of ACEM or equivalent
- Experience in clinical practice as a consultant emergency medicine physician in the WA health system within the last five years
- Experience and demonstrated expertise as a co-ordinator, tutor and supervisor of medical students and the UWA Emergency Medicine curriculum
- Experience and demonstrated expertise in medical education including course or curriculum design, delivery of content in large group, small group and individual situations, clinical assessment, and involvement with evaluation methods and processes
- Demonstrated significant personal contribution and commitment to high quality education.
