About the area
The UWA Office of Industry and Commercial Development (OICD) leads the development and translation of research with industry and government that benefits the financial sustainability and reputation of the University.
OICD supports the University’s objectives in the identification and co-ordination of strategic industry engagement and commercialisation of its research for the University across a diverse portfolio including engineering, business, agriculture, health & medicine, defence, space, oceans, data, energy, and resources.
About the opportunity
- Support research commercialisation by identifying industry partners, assessing IP potential, developing protection strategies including patents, and supporting the formation of spin-out companies.
- Build relationships with researchers, industry, government, and investors; provide guidance and training on IP and commercial development; represent the University externally.
- Lead and manage commercial development projects, coordinate cross-functional teams, support funding applications, and contribute to strategic planning and data management within the OICD team.
About you
- Completion of or progress towards postgraduate qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and an ability to validate the market for research or early-stage ventures in a university or other relevant environments.
- Experience with building relationships with researchers and industry.
- Experience with the management and prioritisation of a portfolio of projects.
- Experience in contract administration and the preparation of reports and presentations.
