About the area

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) (DVC Research) has responsibility for research policy development and general oversight of the University’s research activities, which encompass postgraduate education, research and quality and impact, research infrastructure, industry liaison and intellectual property and commercialisation. The DVC (Research) has responsibility for a number of institutes, research infrastructure centres and services. The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Director – Core Research Infrastructure provide strategic leadership and oversight of the management of the University’s central research infrastructure, in addition to supporting the development and implementation of UWA’s research strategy in alignment with the institutional values.

The Core Research Infrastructure portfolio is focused on the curation of cross-cutting world-class research infrastructure through their expert workforce, for the benefit of researchers and industry.

About the opportunity

  • Manage strategic projects and initiatives to enhance UWA’s research infrastructure under the guidance of the Director – Core Research Infrastructure.
  • Coordinate implementation of solutions across core research infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including the Office of Research, Campus Management, UniIT, and Finance to develop sustainable policies and operational frameworks.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency in business development.
  • Strong leadership and extensive skills in project management, initiative development and stakeholder engagement.
  • Substantial relevant experience in compliance auditing and governance, including the implementation of new governance models across established teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (including working papers, audit queries, reports, business cases) together with sound interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in financial interrogation is desirable.

Note: Some after-hours work and occasional travel may be required for the successful applicant.
