About the area

The Centre for Microscopy, Characterisation and Analysis (CMCA) is UWA’s core characterisation facility. The CMCA’s mission is to enable research excellence by providing access to world-class scientific infrastructure and expertise in characterisation to researchers and industry. It comprises ~30 academic, technical, and administrative staff supporting a diverse range of imaging and analytical instrument platforms. The Centre is home to the WA Microscopy Australia facility, a national consortium of facilities that receives funding through the Federal Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS).

The Microscopy Australia facility generate significant amounts of imaging and spectral data, and our goal is to support researchers to implement best practise in their management and analysis of that data. To that end, the Microscopy Australia node participates in several local and national initiatives related to data storage and data processing in collaboration with partners within UWA, from other universities, and from national high-performance computing facilities.

About the opportunity

  • Implementation of data management procedures for high-end research infrastructure.
  • Work with other states to develop and implement broader strategies related to data management and processing.
  • Support the data management needs of the facility.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Substantial relevant experience with data in one or more of the following: processing, management, storage, or transfer.
  • Experience in developing and implementing training and educational resources.
  • Knowledge of FAIR principles, persistent identifiers, and metadata capture/management.
  • Experience working in a microscopy related environment is desirable.

 Note: Occasional interstate travel may be required.
